Most mineral acids do not affect polyamide, except at high temperatures. It dissolves by decomposition in hydrochloric, sulfuric and nitric acids. It is also soluble in formic acid and substantially inert to alkaline. Polyamide has demonstrated considerable pest-resistance and antimicrobial properties.
Various kinds of polyamide fibers are marketed for the manufacturing of carpets, hosiery, ropes and safety belts. Bermatex Inc. works with different suppliers of Nylon 6.6 in North America and Europe, in order to offer an extensive selection of products. The main brands of polyamide handled at Bermatex are TACTEL® from Invista and MERYL® from Nylstar and Sunlight from Universal Fiber Systems Company.
