Polyester is currently defined as: ”Polymers chemically composed of di-hydric alcohol and a terephthalic acid.” The resulting fiber demonstrates good resistance to both organic and inorganic acids at room temperature and dissolves by partially decomposing in concentrated sulfuric acid. At room temperature, it also shows good resistance to weak concentrations of alkali and average resistance to strong concentrations. What’s more, this fiber offers good resistance to insects, microorganisms and mildew. Generally insoluble, except in certain phenolic compounds, it provides excellent resistance to oxidizing substances.
The main brands of polyester handled at Bermatex are: ESP®, Avora FR™ and Avora Fr™ Plus from Kosa, Delight from Nan Ya and Dacron®, Micromattique®, Coolmax® and Coolmax Alta®.
