Bacteriostatic polyamide is a unique fiber that maintains a natural balance of bacteria on the skin, regardless of the individual’s activity level. The presence of an exclusive bacteriostatic agent in the polymeric matrix allows the fiber to retain its properties, even after 30 washings.
Since the active ingredient does not migrate from the fiber to the skin, potential problems such as allergies, odors, illness, etc., are avoided. In short, bacteriostatic fiber performs much better than fibers subjected to surface treatments.
Bacteriostatic fiber is used to good advantage in fabrics that are in direct contact with the skin, such as athletic wear, undergarments, socks, bedding sheets, etc. The main trademark used by Bermatex is Meryl® Skinlife.
*Note that this product is not a bactericide: it does not decrease bacteria below the level normally present on the skin.
Luster is dull.
